Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they challenge the specific points made reading passage. bird populations decreasing
The reading and lecture are both about bird populations decreasing, which is a significant topic in the United States. The author of the reading believes that there are some reasons that cause bird populations are declined in this region. The lecture challenges the statement made by the author. The professor is of the opinion that these reasons are inconceivable.
First of all, the author suggests that human populations can destroy bird habitats because people change forests and grasslands to homes and offices. This argument is challenged by the lecture. She says that city development provides more spaces for other types of bird populations, also people now complain about increased birds. Furthermore, he mentions that can now be found birds like falcons in cities, consequently, some populations may reduce, but others will spread.
Secondly, the writer contends that agriculture systems can ruin bird habitats. The article notes the most wilderness areas are altered to agriculture use. The lecture, however, rebuts this by asserting that the United States used less and less land for agricultural every year. She elaborates on this by mentioning that the production of new crops cause there is no need for new lands because these crops can produce a lot of foods.
Finally, it is stated in the article that chemical pesticides are dangerous for birds. The author establishes that pesticides kill garden pests and can get into the food chain; therefore, birds eat poisoned pests. So, this event can stop them from reproducing. The lecture, on the other hand, posits that this idea is true but for traditional pesticides. She explains that new pesticides have been designed with much less toxic. Moreover, she mentions that there is a new method to develop pest-resistant crops, so this work causes there is no need for pesticides and birds can swell pesticides without any harmfully.
