Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they cast doubt on specific points made in the reading passage.
The reading and the lecturer are both about one of Rembrandt’s famous artworks The Elderly Woman in a Bonnet. The writer claims that the painting was not painted by Rembrandt, however, the lecturer dismissed the explanations made by the author.
First, the writer points out the contrast between the dress of the lady in the painting with a white linen cap in terms of price and value, mentioning it is not acceptable for Rembrandt to overlook the details. By contrast, the lecturer contradicts the idea made the lecturer. She notes that the painting of an expensive dree on the lady was done one hundred years after the painting was painted by Rembrandt to depict an aristocrat lady.
Second, it is claimed in the reading that it is unbelievable that the painter with the talent at light and shadow made some mistakes in the light reflection. This specific argument, is also, refuted by the lecturer. She asserts that the collar in the original painting was a simple light color, which did not absorb the light, consequently, did not make a shadow.
Finally, the author asserts that all of Rembrandt’s artworks were painted on a single panel instead of several woods glued together. On the other hand, the lecturer mentions that not only are the wood panels added to the painting to make it grander and more valuable, but the wood is from the same trees, Rembrandt used for another painting
