The reading and lecture are both about the new advertisement tactic which is called buzzing. It states that buzzers promote their products with the they meet and know without disclosing they are being paid for it. It also tell that this has created a lot of controversy but the lecturer disagrees. He mentions that this has become even more interesting in marketing and attacks each of the claim made in the article.
In the reading, the author begins by stating that consumer have the right know the truth otherwise they can get incorrect information which can mislead them. The lecturer believes there are flaws in the writers position. He contends that company only hire the people who think their products are authentic. Thus, there is no chance of dillusing the customers.
According to the writer, consumer listen less to the buzzers so they tend to accept whatever the things they tells them. The speaker on other hand points out that consumer ask a lot of question regarding the product as well buzzer such as price and quality of product, how long they have been working there and so on. If they fails to answer then consumer won’t buy the product.
Also, the reading passage notes that when they came to know truth about the buzzling product, it will destroy the social relationship. The professor rebuts this argument. He puts forth the idea that if the product would that bad then company would not recruite buzzer. In addition, once they try to use buzzed product then they end up being trustful and open to people.
As we can see, the author and the speaker hold very different views on buzzers. The lecturer effectively challenges the writer’s argument.
