The reading and lecture are both about the online degree which are now widely available all over the world. The author of the reading states that although online courses are identical to traditional courses to some extent there is few distinction between them. The lecturer disagrees. He mentions that both of them offers the same courses nevertheless online courses are suceptible to be more convenient for students.
Firstly, the author begins by stating that on campus students can have direct interaction with teachers. They can clear their doubts instantly and not only this they can attend the meeting and conference of teacher which benefit them to flourish in academia. The professor believes there are flaws in the writer’s position. He contends that online students too can contact with lecturer however in chat, emails and telephone. Therefore, it is utterly upto to the students whether to connect or not with instructor.
Secondly, according to the passage online courses are inferior to physical courses. In addition, they are not designed complicated which eventually led students to complete course within a week. Moreover, every students can join similar course junior level students provide feedback on assignment which is not the case on campus. The speaker on other hands points out that online courses are equivalent in quality as college since the courses offered by them have to meet the requirement of same level. Additionally, online study tend to be more complex as students must feasible to manage their time, classes and technology.
Finally, the reading passage notes that masters degree cannot be obtain in online classes by top colleges. Besides, even if there is some available they requires students to complete designated program on college first. Hence, online courses seem not to be applicable for those who wants to graduate from well known college. The professor rebuts this argument. He puts forth the idea that although some of the top colleges do not offer graduate degree nonetheless there are many option available for the masters degree just as the colleges.
As we can see, the author and lecturer holds very conflicting views on online graduate degree. The speaker effectively challenges the writer’s argument.
