Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they cast doubt on the specific points made in the reading passage

The reading and lecture are both about the Phoenician who were well known about their seafaring skills which played a vital role in trade and commerce. The author of the reading states that although they were emerged in eastern Mediterranean they used to sail all way to Africa and they should not have done since that was quiet risky.
The lecturer disagrees. He mentions that there was nothing to worry about as the sailor were concerned about the facts and attacks each of the claim made in the article.
Firstly, the author begins by stating ships were not manufactured to handle the long distance trvel in open sea. In addition, ships were made of wooden with limited rooms and equuipment and they could not bear the attack of current and storm. The professor beelievs there are flaws in th writer’s position. He contends that eventhough the ships were of wooden they had metal plate in it. Furthermore, sailor were well equipped to handle all the circumtances that could have come.
Secondly, according to the reading the geographical feature of Africa could make journey challenging. For instance, “The cape of good hope” this location have unpredictable weather and current which could contributed for making voyage complex. The speaker on other hand points out that though the weather is difficult to predict with the aid of skilled sailor and navigation of star and landmark Phoenician used to conduct their journey easily.
Finally, the reading passage notes that all over the history there is not a single record of them completing their journey throughout the Africe. The professor rebuts this argument. He puts forth the idea that instead there is a indirect records of ancient egypt and greek to refer their complete journey.
As we can see the author and lecturer holds conflicting views on completion of journey all over Africa. The speaker effectively challenges the writer’s argument.
