Both the author and the lecturer discuss whether the fossil of T. rex contains remains of the actual tissues of the animal or not. While the author believes that the fossil of this animal is representative of its tissues, the lecturer disagrees with his claim, casting doubt on every single point the author made.
First of all, the author states that the breaking of the fossilized leg bone revealed small branching channels inside which are similar to the hollows in the bones where blood vessels were located. Also, they found a soft, flexible organic substance in these channels. However, the lecturer disagrees with this idea, arguing that this soft flexible substance can be something else because after an organism died, bacteria will live there, leaving organic materials which are soft and moist. Thus, it is highly unlikely that this substance represents the remains of actual blood vessels of T. rex.
Second, the author believes that the presence of reddish spheres contained iron which is a material necessary to the function of red blood cells in transporting oxygen to tissues can be the remains of red blood cells. In opposition to this, the lecturer believes that they found these reddish spheres in the organ of the primitive animals which had no blood vessels. Therefore, the presence of spheres cannot be a sign of the presence of red blood cells in such animals.
Finally, the author states that the dinosaur leg bone contained collagen which is a substance in bone tissues. On the contrary, the lecturer possesses the view that they found that collagen could last for 1000 years and it cannot find in the bone tissues of animals which were 70-million-years-old. Furthermore, he states that human skin contains collagen. Thus, it is more likely that the collagen belonged to the people who were handlers of the bones.
