In this set of materials the reading passage discusses that the invasion of the zebra mussel cannot be stope, thus, thses fishes are serious threaten for population of other frishwater fish in North America. While, in the listening the professor casts doubt on ehat is presented in the rext and believes that the invasion of mussel fish was not able to control because scientists at this time were not enough knowledge.
First of all, i the text it is clearlt mentioned that mussel fish can travel through osion by attach itselfe to ships and they can survive in water called "ballast water". However, the professor claims that the mussel cannot travel by ships cross the ocsion because the sulti water of ocsion kill them.
In addition, the professor disagrees with this idea that the mussel fish can acopied the each new habitat because they have not any predator in the new habitat. He says that they have not predator just in the begining but after some times when the prodators cannot find enough source of foods they start to perying mussels in the high quantity.
Finally, in the text it is stated that when the the mussels become dominant in a habitat they can can threatened other fish specise because they used from plankton and they limited food for other specise. The professor subscribes that it is true that mussels have negative effect on plankton but they produce substance that can be used by other specise as source of food. Thus, the other fish can survive even the population of plankton decreases.
