Little ice age
The listening and the reading materials have a debate on what caused Little ice age. The penman puts forward 3 main hypothesis, which are refuted by the following orator.
First of all, the writer suggests that changing ocean currents by melting the snows before ice age produced huge amount of fresh water into the Gulf Stream. On the contrary, the speaker views this issue from an opposite angle. According to him, this phenomenon had been occurred in Europe and North America. Furthermore, this theory can not proof the ice age happening because it can not describe South Africa and Newseland Little ice age.
The second point offered by the author is that volcanic activities during that time produced plume of dust and other chemicals which prevent reaching sunlight to the Earth and mitigate the temperature. On the other hand, the lecturer casts doubt on this assumption by saying that since there was no observation of colorful sun set or different color of snow during that period, amount of such dust was not enough to cause that reduction in temperature.
Last but not least, the reading passage proposes that declining in the human's population caused not cutting trees and addition in trees' number consumed CO2 content of air which is one of important composition for Greenhouse effect. Thus, it caused to reduce in temperature. However, the professor holds a different perspective. He explains that short time and temporary reduction of human 's low population was not sufficient reason to happen that events for long term global cooling.
In all, the ideas mentioned in the speech counter the opinions in the text.
