TPO 29-Integrated writing
The professor in the lecture has raised three points against the passage's content.
First, the passage claims that the dinosaur needs to migrate because there is almost no food during winter. The professor rejected this opinion by pointing out that the sun will shine all the 24 hours every day during the summer in North Slope. Thanks to the sun, many plants grow heavily in the summer. The amount of plants is just too huge that even many plants died from cold weather in winter, the remaining corpse of those plants can still provide enough food for those dinosaurs. Therefore there is plenty of food in winter.
Second, the passage points out that living in herd means edmonotsaur is a migratory animal. The professor disagreed with the statement by indicating that not all the animals which live in herd are migratory animals. Such as Roosevelt Elk. This kind of elk lives in herd but the elk is not a migratory animal. A benefit of living in herd is that it provides a kind of extra protection against predators. Thus living in herd is not a sign which only belongs to migratory animal. Therefore we cannot say edmonosaur is a migratory animal just because it lives in herd.
Third, the passage states that edmonosaur can run very fast to reach the warm area during winters. The professor admitted that an adult edmonosaur can run that fast but that is not true for young animals. Yong animals cannot be that fast therefore having young animals in herd can significantly delay the whole herd's moving speed. Also, the herd cannot simply left young animals behind because those young animals cannot survive on their own. So the whole group of edmonsaurs have to stay in the same place rathering than migrating to another area. Therefore edmonsaur is not a migrating animal.
