Sailors in Russia submarines has heard strange sounds, known as 'quackers'. The causes of this sounds are not clear yet, but the reading demonstrates some claims. The professor in the lecture, however, is obviously against the reading.
First, even though the reading explains these sounds could be as an effect of orca whales but the professor argues that it is not true. Because orca whales live near the surface of marine and sailors can see them easily but these sounds are from the deeper part of submarines, so it is not a compelling reason.
Moreover, contrary to the statement in the reading that giant squids could be the source of these sounds, the professor contends that these sounds are heard since two decades ago but as we know, squid live deep in the ocean since one decade ago. Hence, this claim is not enough strong.
Finally, the reading states that these sounds could be from some military technology like another country’s submarines. Nevertheless, the professor believes that these sound move around quickly but we know submarines can not move and change quickly. Although, by the new military technology, submarines are very fast and silent.
