The reading and the the lecture discussing the stone balls purposes but in every contrasts ways. Lecturer keep on refuting the statements which made in reading passage.
Firstly, reading passage says that it has holes and grooves on the surface on the stone. So, it can be used as weapon because these structures allows the person swing the stone and throw it on target objects. But, the lecturer refuses this point by stating that when they used the arrows, hand axes as weapon it become crack due to overuses but it does not has any cracks on it surface.
Secondly, reading claims that it might be used for measurement usages because they are in same size that is 70 mm in diameter. Again, the speaker opposes this point by saying that actually there different density of stone balls are available even though they are similar in size so it could not be possible to weigh the food and grains.
Thirdly, reading suggests that it might be used for the social status specially when there is social conflict because it has the elaborate carving on the surface. Still, the professor argues this point by explaining that some stones are integrate pattern in design and some of them are simple pattern and further, they did not buried any stone under burials.
To sum up, the reading says that stone could be used as weapons, measuring devices and symbol of social status but the speaker refutes all these points with logical and reasonable evidences.
