Both the reading and the listening discuss the efficiency of cloud seeding that helps to cut the damage of hail which is an icy form of precipitation less likely snow or rain. The reading passage supports the idea that cloud seeding is effective in protecting crops, but the professor tells that blurry of efficiency of it.

The reading article first mentions that this method works well in the laboratory, and silver iodide that added to water vapor creates light snow, not a hail. However, the professor suggests the idea that silver iodide cannot work efficiently in life because it will cut the precipitation. Therefore, the crops will damage more due to drainage.

Furthermore, the article points out that the experiment of clout seeding works successfully in some Asian countries; hence, the passage mentions that this will definitely work in the united states. this point challenged by listening claiming that the cloud seeding works only in urban areas which have high air polluted. In contrast, American farming areas usually locate in the non-polluted areas, and then the method will not suit.

Finally, the reading passage adds that some local farming uses the cloud seeding, and damage of the hail decreases. On the other hand, the listening makes the statement clearer by saying that the result of declining damage of hail was not because of it, but a natural variation.

Throughout the year, farming crops increase in several areas of the united states.
