The reading discusses that the coin was brought from Europe, it was fake. The author listed three factors to support this claim. However, the speaker finds all the reason dubious and presents some evidence to refute all the ideas.
First, the author proposes that great distances between the Maine site and the Native American site refute this idea. In contrast, the peaker states that many other objects found in this place because they travel the great distance to bring their favorite objects that they are interested in. Hence, the speaker dismisses this idea.
Second, the author argues that there were no other coins there so it was implied that no coins brought to this place by Norse. On the other hand, the speaker casts doubt on this issue by standing that it does not necessarily mean that no other coins discovered. Due to the fact that no permanent settlements live there or when Norse took coins back to the first place while he made a voyage trip there.
Last but not least, the author points out that the coin was useless and it has not any utility in American because their money was different. On the contrary, the speaker rejects this reason and declares that it was perhaps valuable for them like a necklace or other types of jewelries for us, therefore they attract to have them and trade these coins with European as they were beautiful and valuable for them.
