TPO 51 task 1

The passage presents some hypotheses about elephants' characteristics. The lecture, nonetheless, provides reasons and examples in opposites of ideas discussed by the article and refutes them all.

First of all, the passage alleges that elephants could realize when they are near to death. It explains that as they get older and weaker, they left their herd and set alone near a leak. In contrast, the professor brings up this idea that this action by elephants should not be perceived that they know they are going to die. Elephants do this because as they get older, their teeth become more smooth and they cannot chew strong plants, so they leave their herds and find smoother plants that probably grow near the water.

Second, the article claims that elephants have the artistic ability, and can paint some wonderful objects. The professor, on the contrary, highlights this fact that elephants trained to paint something like this and they just paint these objects because their trainer learns them to move the brush in a certain way their sensitive ears are touched. She explains more and says that elephants' ears are more sensitive, and trainer by taking the advantages of this characteristic to stimulate the elephants to repeat the same movements they have done.

Finally, the author expresses the old belief among people that elephants have a fear of mice. The article provides a test in which elephants confronted with several mics and get afraid. The speaker dismisses this idea and explains that such behavior in elephants are mostly because they are not familiar with mices and they seem strange to elephants.
