First, the reading states that the Chevalier was not wealthy because he borrowed considerable sums of money from a Swiss merchant. However, the speaker states that the Chevalier who borrowed a great deal of money, was not poor. He has a lot of assets which solds them to uses its money for parties and gambling. The Chevalier was waiting for his money to arrive and because he did not has any money left, borrowed money for his expenditure.
Second, according to the lecture, the Chevalier completed his memoir after many years that meets Voltairs. Hence, it is impossible for him to capture conversations accurately since it happens long time ago. In contrast, the lecturer explains that the Chevalier after meeting the Voltaire wrote what he remembered about their conversation each night. Moreover, there are some witnesses that see the Chevalier consults with others for his writing.
Third, based on the passage, the Chaevalier did not escape from ceiling. He had a number of politically well-conected friend who offered bribes to jailer to free him. On the contrary, the speaker assests that copious prisoners had more powerful friends than the Chevalier but they could not escape the prison by bribing.
