The reading explains that the settlements of Chaco Canyon were used for residential by great number of people. In contrast, the professor cast doubt on it and says that none of the theories mentioned by reading is not convincing.
Frist, Based on the reading, hundreds of people residents in The Chaco structures. However, the lecturer states that the outside of the structure are like apartment but there are doubt in inside of the structure to be considered apartment. There is only few rooms and fire place insdie this building and since people need fire for cocking, we can not consider that hundred of people use it at residental housing.
Second, according to the passage, the Chaco structure were used to save food supplies since the people use the main graze which last for a long time. Nevertheless, the professore explains that by excavation we did not found many other things like the container of the grain maize. It is possible that the maize spoil on the floor by people. Therefore, we can not conclude that the people use it as food supplies.
Third, the reading specifies that houses were used as ceremonial center since by excavation of that places, they found many pots. On the contrary, the explainer says that lots of other materials like building materials such as sand and stone was found in these places. Therefore, it is a chance that people put their structure trash material, not used material or regular trash in these places. Hence, the left over meal can not support the usage of this building for ceremonies.
