Parenting is a key element of any human being and society. Through parenting, great values can be transmitted to the future generations. Parenting can also provide the right education and conditions to future adults to prosperous. In the following paragraphs I will point out some of the qualities that I assume Parents should have in order to be consider "Good Parents".
First of all, Parents should spend some time with their kids. It seems obvious but there are a lot of parents that don´t do it, because of their high demanding jobs or other reasons. In fact, some of my friends whose dad´s or moms didn´t spend much time with them, tend to suffer a lot and are always seeking attention and getting in trouble. Secondly, I think parents should give the basic respectful values like, being graceful, honest, kind; a good and respectful person, in essence. This is particular important, because we live in a society, and therefore, individuals must respect each other and have strong moral values to be integrated in a developed, interactive and peaceful society. All of we know many individuals that had great success but because of their bad attitude, they were doomed by society. For instances, some record selling rappers come to my mind, like Tupac and Biggie Smalls, that are examples of arrogant and disrespectful attitudes, that lead to their success but also to their dead. Thirdly, I can´t forget to mention, the hard working skills, to which I think parents can transmit to their children by making them work for what their want rather than always making all their wishes and dreams true. In my opinion, life is all about sacrifices and collecting the "fruits" that you´ve "planted", thus if an individual is raised in a manner that he doesn´t has to work or do something to get what he wants, he will be a loser as an adult, and will have a lot of trouble having success in any domain (like relationships and career, for example), and may all be due for the mentioned type of parenting, where parents treat their children has kings or lords. Last but not least, parents should give some liberty and decisive power to their children. It might sound a litle contradictory to what I have exposed, but future adults should have free will to what they want, parents should only trie to guide, giving the right tools for being a good working human being. Decisions like which carreer should one pursue, which person should one chose to marry, should be in the hands of each and everyone of us and are principles of a free society.
In summary, I believe that good parents should raise their children affording the time to transmit respectful values, to prepare them to a high competitive adult life, but also giving them space and liberty so they can live their lives with free will.
