zoos
The article is about benefits of zoos for animals and human beings. The professor in the lecture casts doubt on positive points made by the writer. Children’s are always fascinated for visiting various zoos.
The writer states that animals are treated well in zoos. And they live same as their forest life. The professor casts doubt by mentioning case of two red pandas. In one zoo, two Red pandas died because of rat poisoning, proving danger on safety issues of animals residing in zoos.
Secondly writer points out that zoos are no longer used for entertainment purposes nor they are marketed for the same. Instead, they are visited for education purpose. The Speaker refuses on this claim and talks that average number of animals living in zoos attract people for joy and not for learning about animals. He also talks that though some zoos are truly for education but animals are in artificial exhibits and often misunderstood by the human population.
In the third point writer mentions zoos importance in protecting endangering animal species. He gives an example of Golden lion in Africa which was saved from extinction. Professor refutes this by stating the problem of interbreeding issue in animals residing in zoos and getting birth defects. And he states that overall ratio of zoos helping to save endangering animal species is very low.
So, Zoos have got more remarkable negative reasons for animals in comparison to benefits. Some zoos are even not maintained properly by the governments and this puts danger on animals as well as visitors. In conclusion, its better if animals are allowed to live in the forest. So, they would definitely survive long.
