In this set of material the reading passage was about the salvage logging, and the listening passage was a lecture by a professor about the reading passage which disagreed with the mentioned reasons in the reading passage.
According to the reading passage, there are so many great deal of damage to forests in the northwestern United States; for example, powerful storms and forest fire. As a result, after the mentioned deals, we can find so many trees, which they are no longer alive. Writer believes that salvage logging is an effective way to remove dead trees from the forest. Moreover, there are some strong reasons, which are mentioned in the passage, to support the writer's idea. First of all, salvage logging has some benefit for new trees to grow; to explain more, if the dead trees become removed, there are more space available for new trees to grow. In addition, removing dead trees from the damaged forests has some advantages for other trees by removing the huge insects from the forest. Finally, salvage logging has some benefits for economic purposes such as, the industries, which depend on forests for their production; moreover, removing dead trees from the forests creates job opportunities for native people, who lives around the forests.
According to the professor, salvage logging is not very efficient way for the mentioned reasons in the reading passage, she, for example, said green trees are not depend on dead trees' space. She, moreover, talked about the insects and birds and said there many useful insects, which are living in dead trees. She, finally, talked about the jobs, she, as a result, said the new jobs are temporary.
Overall, the ideas mentioned in the listening passage disagreed the mentioned ideas in the reading passage.
