The reading and the lecture are both about replacement for the automobile's engine source of power, which is about using hydrogen-based fuel-cell engine. The author of the reading believes that it has several advantages over internal-combustion engines, but the lecture casts doubt on the claims made in the article. She thinks there is not advantages in using hydrogen.
First of all, the author claims that our petroleoum resource will be deplete but hedrogen has many various sources. This point is challenged by the lecture. She says that hedrogen not easily drived from water or any other sources and it is difficult to produce hedrogen and it is not practical.
Secondly, the author states that heydrogen-based engine is appealing, because it reduce the pollution in the air. He argues if we use hedrogen in our engine, we have less carbon dioxide. This argument is rebutted by the lecture. She states that producing hedrogens need to burn oil and burning the oil is anther problem for polluting the air.
Finally, the author mentions that fuel-cell engine will be vry economical and people will prefer to use these engines. The lecture, on the other hand, feels that it is not economical because thay have to use platinum for producing electricity and using platinum is not economical.
In conclusion, the lecture and reading are both about using hedrogen inatead of petroleum, and the professor effectively challenges the claims made in the article.
