The charts below show the proportions of British students at one university in English who were able to speak other languages in addition to English, in 2000 and 2010.
The pictures illustrate information about how many languages except English did students of one university in the UK spoke in 2000 and 2010.
Overall, most of students did not speak any other languages in both years. Another interesting point is that the percentage of students, who were able to speak not French, German or Spanish but another language, was a bit higher in 2010 than in 2000.
The number of people, who knew both English and Spanish, reached 20% in 2000, however it halved in 2010. The percentage of French and German speakers was 15% and 10% respectively in 2000. But while for German speakers the figures remained the same in 2010, for students, who spoke English and French, they went down to 15%.
The percentage of British students who were able to speak two other languages rose from 10% in 2000 to 15% in 2010. The number of students who did not speak any languages except English was 30% in 2000 and saw an increase of 5% in 2010.
