The line graph illustrates the quantities of UK commodities transported on four different transportation between 1974 and 2002.
It is clear that road stood out as being utilized for moving goods far more than the others, while those of pipeline was trivial. Overall, almost all of the figures for transportation increased moderately, with the except for an oscillation in commodities transported by rail.
As is observed, the largest amount of goods was carried by road at roughly 70 million tones in 1974. However, the data of pipeline was sharply lower at merely 5 million tones. Moreover, commodities carried by rail, which was fairly equal to those of water at approximately 40 million tones.
In 2001, the amount of goods witnessed a soar to roughly 100 million tones, despite of hitting a low in 1982. Over the period shown, those of water climbed exponentially to about 60 million tones, whereas the data of rail stayed remain at 1974 figure. Furthermore, the growth of commodities transported by pipeline was particularly noticeable between 1974 and 2002, during which time, the data of pipeline was almost four-fold bigger at approximately 20 million tones
