Students at universities often have a choice of places to live. They may choose to live in university dormitories, or they may choose to live in apartments in the community. Compare the advantages of living in university housing with the advantages of living in an apartment in the community. Where would you prefer to live? Give reasons for your preference.
Universities are an important part of our education. We obtain special skills and knowledge to succeed in the future. The first thing we need to decide before starting university education is to decide the place where to live. There are basically two choices; dormitories on campus and apartments in the community. Although each one offers advantages and disadvantages.
To begin with, living in a community apartment allows students to have their own privacy and freedom. You can come back home anytime you want to, since no supervisor is there. There is no meal time decided, so you can eat at your own time. Moreover, you are less stressful because you do not have unnecessary conflicts with your roommate.
On the other hand, although living in a campus dormitory force students to follow certain rules, there are many benefits. First, students do not need to spend time commuting, which saves a lot of time. They can use time more efficiently by studying or joining sport activities. Second, dormitories are much safer than apartments in the community because usually there is a security guy there. I have never heard about crimes such as robbery in a dormitory. Third, dormitories often provide the best environment for students to enjoy the campus live. You can easily find friends to study and hang out. You can find easily any information of events that happens in the campus.
To sum up, although having much freedom and privacy may make your university life more enjoyable, I would prefer to live in a dormitory because I can focus on studying. In addition, a dormitory is a safer place to live and offers many things that enrich my campus life.
