In the reading passage, the author claims that there are three major implications for historic sites' excavation by the private sector. However, finding all the ideas implausible and questionable, the professor casts doubt on what is presented in the text and states that regardless of some detrimental consequences, the reading exaggerated regarding the problems. Therefore, she stated some evidence to refute the adverse issue mentioned in the passage.
At first, the author argues that the public becomes deprived of getting acquainted with fossil due to their absence in the museums. Conversely, the lecturer brings up the idea that private ownership presents a lot of these fossils for being purchased. Consequently, these fossils are available for many public organizations and libraries to buy.
In addition, the reading passage holds the view that scientists miss accessing to numbers of fossils since they are being collected by the rich private collectors. On the other hand, the professor dismisses this point by clarifying the fact that this justification is not realistic. Indeed, in order to put the price on the fossils, its value should be scientifically identified. Having scrutinized the details of fossils to state their expert opinion, the scientists have a wide access to the entire fossils that had been unearthed by the private sector. Thus, undoubtedly, their limited budget to discover the fossils has nothing o do with their restrained accessible to them.
Finally, the author asserts that the private sector diminishes some precious scientific evidence while they dig up the sites due to lack of sufficient knowledge and skill in this field. The professor, though, disputes this idea by subscribing the fact that if this segment does not uncover the sites, numerous of fossils will remain undiscovered. As a matter of fact, universities or other institutions do not have much contribution and attempt in this regard. Thus, whether it would be better to discover the fossil partially or left them undiscovered completely? Needless to say that the first solution has a variety of advantages.
