Learning is a challenge because everyone intakes information differently from one another. In almost all types of courses, there is most likely one student who is dozing off while the professor is lecturing. The claim states that educators should acknowledge their student’s recommendations and interests in regards to course planning. Similar to other areas of work, it is important for a leader to the account for the needs of their pupils beyond their parochial perspective.
Courses are planned on what educators believe is best for the student, though it may have been years or even decades since these people have found themselves in the student’s seat. By listening to their students, educators can better adopt courses that are best suited for the scholars. Students can advocate for special electives, relevant courses, or classes that are atypical in education. Not all ideas have to be accepted, but it is good to adapt coursework based on the needs of their students. Learning should not be limited to the basic subjects that we are all too familiar with: English, history, math, science, and art. There should be cooking courses, more hands-on learning, or special projects that help students learn effectively. With an array of courses, students will have a holistic learning experience.
Accepting student recommendations changes the learning environment for the better when students know that their voices are being heard. They don’t feel insignificant when it comes to their educational choices. With education being more open, students are more inclined to participate, motivated to learn, and excel in their studies. The acknowledgement tremendously transforms their behavior, perception, and ability to perform. As a guidance, educators should path the way for these young minds, but also have a cooperative stance. By opening these door for scholars to actively partake will change the way student act during their time in school and in their future careers. This creates a fundamental behavior for students to advocate for their beliefs, future careers, and so much more. They are better prepared for what follows afterwards.
With that said, educators don’t necessarily have to account all the interests and suggestions provided to them by students. They must maintain an active role in paving the route towards success for students. All recommendations should be looked at carefully and accommodated if they find necessary. A properly planned coursework requiring the fundamentals of education is essential, but there must be some leeway for student’s to also have an active voice. Core coursework should include basic courses like English, math, science, history, and so on. Education professionals have the resources and knowledge to make the best choices for the future of society.
The claim makes a fair statement in regards to keeping an open mind towards student suggestions and interests. It will help provide educators a sense of what will motive their students to be successful in school. But they must also maintain the core classes to ensure the well-roundedness of students. Always keep an open ear because everyone wants to be heard, especially those in lower positions.
