The graph below shows average carbon dioxide emissions per person in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy and Portugal between 1967 and 2007.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The given data illustrates information about average carbon dioxide emissions per person in 4 different countries over 40 years from 1967 to 2007. It is evident from the graph that emissions in United Kingdom and Sweden fell down while the increase in emissions was experienced in Italy and Portugal.
The carbon dioxide emissions in UK steadily shrunk from roughly 11 to 8.5 metric tonnes during 40 years. Therefore, the figure in Sweden is slightly different from UK. Emissions in Sweden had rised from 8.5 tonnes and piked at 10.3 tonnes in 1977. Following this, the trend starts to decrease drastically to 6.5 in 1987 which is then gradually slid to 5.5 metric tonnes in 2007.
In contrast, CO2 emissions in Italy significantly climbed from 4.3 to 6.5 metric tonnes in 1977 which is continued to modestly swell up to 7.5 in 1997. The carbon emission in Italy remained stable over 10 years from 1997 to 2007. Similarly, in Portugal rate of emission grow up from 1 to 4.5 metric tonnes in 1997 and went almost unchanged for next 10 years.
To sum up, the air contamination in UK and Sweden reduced while this case is just reverse for Italy and Portugal.
