Both the lecture and the reading passage discuss the possible reasons caused litte ice age. The reading passage proposes three possible reasons, while the lecture disagees with them.
First, the writer suggests that the disruption of the Gulf Stream affected Earth's climate. However, the lecturer argures that the Gulf Stream should only affect in Europe and the U.S. but not sounth area such as Newziland and Africa.
Secondly, the writer claims that volcanic eruption created dust which blocked sunlight and decreased the global temperatures, but the lecturer disagrees. Despite there was enough dust to block sunlight, the lecturer disputes that the dust produced some special effects such as color sunset, too. But for now, no report supported this idea.
Last but not the least, the writer says that declining in human populations increased the number of trees in forests which decreases the greenhouse effect. Nevertheless, the lecturer refutes that the time period of population decline was not long enough for trees to grow up. According to the record, there was only a short period of population decline, and then human population increased again soon.
In sum, the lecturer does not agree with the reading passage and offers strong and obvious evidence to support his idea.
