The reading passage lists three hypotheses about what agnostides ate and how they behaved, while the professor in the lecture says that each of three theories has strong weaknesses.
The first point the professor argues is that if the agnostides could not be free-swimming predators because they did not have a good vision. All types of swimming predators would have large developed eyes to spot prays. Also, there is no evidence that agnostids have other special organs to help them pray, which ruins the claim in the reading that they were swimming predators.
Secondly, the reading holds the view that agnostids might be the scavengers ling on the seafloor like examples of other types of primitive arthropods. The professor, however, mentions that agnostids had abilities which the animals who are seafloor dwellers do not have. They could move fast and far in multiple large habitats, while the typical creatures living on the seafloor cannot occupy such big areas. That is, the professor fights against the view in the reading again.
Finally, the professor represents his view that agnostids were not parasites due to their huge population. Parasites have limited number of the population because they have to prevent to kill off their host. The vast amount of agnostids have been found in the same places ruins contradicts the suggestion in the reading that the agnostids might have live on others creatures.
