The line graph gives information about the quantities number of goods moved by 4 types of transportation in UK from 1974 to 2002. At the first glance, it can be seen that road, water and rail transportation fluctuated while pipeline increased. Overall, all transportation had an upward trend.
To begin with, the quantities of road increased slightly to around 75 from 1974 to 1978 and was followed by a slight decline before continued increasing gradually until 1990 at roughly 82. It decreased marginally by approximately 3 in 1994 and had a significant rise to 98 onward. However, the number of goods quantities transported by water increased slightly to 40 from 1974 to 1978 which was the same point with rail transportation. In 1982, water transportation rose gradually by 10 while rail dropped by 3 and continued falling until 1983. Moreover, water mode experienced a slight climb before fell to 52 in 1998 and bounced up to 65 onward. This contrast to rail mode which saw a fluctuation over the following 15 years and reached at 41 in 2002.
On the other hand, pipeline mode stood at 5 in 1974 and increased steadily by 12 over the following 5 years. From 1982 to 1995, there was a marginal increase at 22 and remained constant onward.
