A friend you met last year has invited you to visit him/her in his/her country. You have never been there before and need some information before you leave.
Write a letter to your friend. In your letter:
• request advise about a gift for his/her family
• ask about activities and clothing in his/her country
• find out about the food
Dear Tanaka,
It’s Truong, your pal from Vietnam. I have received your invitation to visit your family in Tokyo this May. Hence, I am writing this letter to let you know that I’m coming and also to ask for some information before I depart for this trip because, as you’ve already known, I have never visited Tokyo.
Let’s cut to the chase, I’m very excited to know about the activities when visiting your family. So, if there isn’t anything that you want to keep secret, please show me the full list of what we will do. Also, don’t forget to tell me about any clothing custom that I need to follow because I don’t want to be a weird person due to my own style. Another thing that I’m concerning is Japanese food because I’m allergic to raw fish and therefore, I need to make sure not to eat any raw sea food when staying with you. Last but not least, I’m planning to wrap a gift for your family so please give me your advice on what presents should I get based on your family’s interests. I can’t wait to meet you in May and spend my time hanging out with you and your family.
I’m looking forward to receiving your response.
Your friend,
Truong N
