smoking campaign
The passage and lecture was both about how effective the public campaign to stop smoking affected people, particularly teens to quit or prevent from smoking. The writer considers the good consequences of anti-smoking set of tactics consisting of several workshops, non-smoking club establishment and advertisement, whereas the speaker lists facts about how easily the results are fading.
Firstly, as the writer illustrates, almost half of the teens who used to smoke has seen the anti-smoking promotion which caused them to not smoke in further. Moreover, by survey suggests, those 50% of teens are less likely to smoke than the other half who didn`t see any kind of projects. However, the narrator casts doubt on this point by mentioning several reasons. She suggests the audience to see how people`s perspective have changed in a few months later from the campaigns ending. More than half, 58% of the teens answered they are more likely to smoke for the next year indicates how useless all the projects were.
Moreover, the writer mentions the success of this maneuver strongly that it reached fairly 50% of the individual ear. Furthermore, course of actions as same as this are going to be introduced to public in order to let them understand negative impact of smoking. Even though, the speaker shows refuse on this point. She tells that only after 3 months from the day when the campaign ended, the number of people who are aware of the project was decreased by 20%. Also, she recommends if the public health department really want to achieve a goal by organizing this kind of actions, it may help to see the truth of consequences whether it is working or not.
