The chart shows the division of household tasks by gender in Great Britain
The bar chart gives the information about the percentage of 6 types of housework that both of gender did in the UK. Units are measured in minutes person per day.
Overall, women were responsible for the most of household tasks than men except gardening, pet care and maintenance odd jobs. The females spent most time cooking, baking and washing up in comparison to men’s tasks were gardening and pet care.
As observed from the chart, woman cooked, baked and washed up as housework much more than man (around 70% with females and 30% with males). The number was similar in terms of cleaning and tidying the house, there was a significant difference between the females and males (nearly 60% and above 10% respectively). Women also care for children and play with them more than men about two times. This figure was bigger in terms of washing, ironing and sewing clothes, it was around 3 times, about 28% with women and just 2% with men.
But men also spent more time than women gardening, caring for the pet and maintenance odd jobs. The percentage of man is exactly 50% in gardening and caring pet and in maintenance odd jobs, it was around 20% in comparison with those of women were 20% and 10% respectively.
