The graph reveals the emissions of carbon dioxide by each person in the UK, Sweden, Italy, and Portugal from 1967 to 2007. The data has been calibrated in metric tonnes.
Overall, it is quite evident, the emissions from Italy and Portugal increased while there was a decline in UK and Sweden.
At first, Looking at the figures for Portugal, in 1967 carbon dioxide emitted was 1.5 tonnes which rose to around 3.5 tonnes by 1987. In between 1987 to 1997, there was a gradual increase, however, it remained stagnant to 4.5 by 2007. Similarly, emissions in Italy also soured over time. In the beginning, average emission per person was 4.2 in 1967 later this reached 4.2 tonnes in 1977 and finally skyrocketed to 7.8 tonnes in the year 2007. Moving onto Sweden, at first, the figures peaked at 10.2 in 1977 from 8.2 in 1967 but surprisingly; it plunged to 6.5 in 1987 and 5.8 in 2007. The United Kingdom had the maximum emissions since the beginning. In 1967 it is clearly visible the emissions were 10.3 metric tonnes which had a slight fall after a certain period and eventually dropped to 8.3 in 2007.
To conclude, one can say carbon dioxide emissions were maximum in UK and minimum in Portugal during the entire period.
