possibility of living men in the Venus
Both reading and listening discuss about the possibility of living men in the Venus. The author by mentioning some extreme condition on this planet, states that it is impossible for human being to stay and live there. On the other hand, the professor refutes the reasons and says it will be possible for men to live there if they live in stations in the atmosphere about 50 km above the surface of that planet in light of the following reasons.
First off, the text says the Venus' atmosphere pressure is more than 90 times compare to the Earth atmosphere pressure. On the contrary the lecturer posits the atmosphere pressure in 50 km above the surface of the Venus is about the Earth atmosphere pressure. So the habitants would have no problem about this issue.
Secondly, the writer makes the point that there is no reservoirs of water in the Venus' surface and neither is in its atmosphere. Besides lack of oxygen in its atmosphere is another reason that adversely affect the possibility of carbon-based life on this planet. In contrast, the teacher postulates that there is a lot of CO2 and SO2 in the atmosphere of the Venus that during chemical process could be turned into water and oxygen.
Finally, the text points out about the lack of enough sun light in the surface of the Venus which is required for solar power cells. Conversely, the speaker explains that in 50 km above the surface, there would be two source of sun light. First the sun light that is directly come from the sun that due to lesser cloud in that altitude would be a suitable resource of energy. Besides the sun light that would be reflected from lower level cloud to the stations that would be on the 50 kilometers above the surface, can be seen as another Sun light resource.
