A friend who lives in another country has invited you to come and stay with him/her on your next holiday. You are too busy to accept the invitation. Write a letter to your friend. In your letter,
Thank him/her for the invitation
Explain why you cannot come
Ask him about other times to visit

Dear Matt,

I am delighted to see your warm invitation. This idea is exciting. However, my work commitments cannot make this possible unfortunately.

Let me explain my situation in more detail. I’ve recently started a new job as Naval Architect with a salvage company. As you may aware that my job scope includes 24 hours standby for emergency response. Most of the time, I'll need to travel to an operation site within an hour of notice. During upcoming holiday, I’m on duty and I won’t be able to visit you.

Can you please let me know when you’re available next time? I’m seriously looking for a break from the city life and I’d love to come to stay at your place. I’ll bring my wife along with me and she'd certainly enjoy to meet you and your kids. Let’s do some crazy stuffs.

I look forward to hearing for you.

Yours,
Yan
