The given line graph provides information about immigration, emigration, and net migration in the UK between 1999 to 2008.
It is clear that the number of immigrants and emigrants gradually rose during the period, however, the figures for immigration was considerable higher. Net migration slightly fluctuated over the period and peaked in 2004 and 2007.
According to the graph, there were over 450 thousand people coming to reside in the UK while the quantity of people who emigrated was just about two thirds of that number. Net migration stood at around 160 thousand people and it remained at a similar level until 2003 then peaked at nearly 250 thousand people in 2004.
From 2004, the proportion of immigration reached at the peak roughly 600 thousand people. Meanwhile, the rate of emigrants rose gradually to 400 thousand people in 2006 and then decreased by 50 thousand people until 2007 before that rising back up over 420 thousand people in 2008. Thus, net migration rose significantly to 240 thousand people in 2007 but then dropped to around 160 thousand people in 2008.
