The given charts illustrate the comparison between the percentage of water usage for three main purposes, namely industry, agriculture and domestic in six specific regions of the world.
Overall, out of six examined regions, the water consumption for cultivation accounted for the highest proportions, except North America and Europe where the rates of those for manufacture were largest. Additionally, North America and Europe also witnessed big gaps in industrial and agricultural figures in comparison with other regions.
Regarding water usage for agricultural purposes, these figures which occupied more than four-fifths were the only significant majority in Central Asia, South East Asia and Africa, followed by 71% in South America. By contrast, these figures in developed regions such as North America and Europe which were just 39% and 32% respectively were overtaken by the figures for industrial water used.
According to the charts, the rates of water usage for personal household using accounting for lower than 20% in all shown regions were the smallest in North America, Europe and South East Asia. Furthermore, while the proportions of water usage for industrial purposes in North America and Europe were the largest, at about a half, those in other regions were just around 10%.
