The given table illustrates the average distance travelled by English people per year and how much the changes in mode of transportation in England between 1985 and 2000.
Generally, it can be seen from the table that the average of distance travelled by English people in various modes of transportation increased significantly from 4,740 miles in 1985 to 6,475 miles in 2000.
In 1985, the highest average of distance at 3,199 miles by car, followed by other transportation at 450 miles. Then, local bus had the average at 429 miles; it was quite high for people to use this mode of transportation. Moreover, walking and train had the same average, the difference just by 34 miles. Next, long distance bus had a small average of distance at 54 miles.
Over fifteen years, English people have changed in use mode of transportation. The changing of average distance by car went up higher to 4,806 miles, followed by other transportation climbed to 585 miles. Then, local bus declined sharply by 155 to 274 miles. Next, walking had the average at 255 miles in 1985 and it dropped by 18 to 237 miles in 2000. Conversely by train, the average of distance increased considerably from 289 miles to 366 miles. Next, long distance bus rose up rapidly by 70 to 124 miles.
Interestingly, there was not many English people use taxi and bicycle as their transportation so the average distance from both of them was just approximately 50 miles from 1985 to 2000.
Overall, it can be concluded that at the beginning many of English people used several of transportation to travel around city or just went to the near location but over fifteen years they used it to travel the long destination.
