The bar graph compares the percentage of money spent on food, housing, transportation, health care and clothing in four different countries in 2009.
Overall, all nations spent the most on housing in 2009 except for Japan, which the highest expenditure was on food. While Canada and the UK spent the least on health care, the United States of America allocated it on clothing, but for Japan, it was the same for both of these categories.
The USA spent the biggest percentage of money on housing at just over a quarter in the given year. Similarly, Canada's spending was approximately a fifth and the United Kingdom was just under 25%. Japan was noted to have the highest percentage of spending on food compared to other countries at roughly 23%. With regard to transportation, Canada's expenditure was the biggest overall at 20%.
Both the Canadians and the British spent the lowest proportion of money on health care, at nearly 5% and about 1% respectively. In comparison to the Americans, they spent the least on clothing at roughly 5%, whereas for Japanese, it was equal on both of these items at almost 5%.
