Your local council is considering closing a sports and leisure centre that it runs, in order to save money. Write a letter to the local council. In your letter
-give details of how you and your friends or family use the centre
-explain why the sports and leisure centre is important for the local community
-describe the possible effects on local people if the centre closes
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing with regards to the sports club ‘’Sparta’’ that is located in Albany region. I heard that you are considering to close this sports centre which is really sad to hear.
I used to visit Sparta almost every day with my friends and sometimes with my older sister. It has offered so much entertainment and sports facilities. Especially during rainy days it has been such a pleasure to spend time indoors and play tennis or basketball there.
I feel that there is a lot of people visiting Sparta. Firstly, they find it entertaining as there is lots of space with different activities like playing table tennis, basketball, football and so on. Secondly, there is a room for using computers with internet, a lot of schoolchildren find it a good place to study with peers after school. A lot of people have made strong friendship here and it is like an after school gathering together place.
Please take into account that if you will close this centre a lot of people would be sad and it is hard to find an alternative place for that.
Yours faithfully,
Mary Freeman
