The bar chart shows the results of a survey which asked people the causes of crime
The given bar chart provides the information about the primary causes of law-breaking activities according to the survey participants. As illustrated by the chart, the largest number of respondents indicated that family upbringing was the main source of crime while the bottom of the list witnessed the presence of poor housing.
It is apparent from the chart that there existed two family-related factors. Childrearing, which was believed to have led to illegal activities by roughly 98% of those surveyed, was the first one. In comparison, just 37% of poll sample opined that the increasing rate of violation was attributed to parents busy working.
With regard to the authority’s duties, approximately 80% of individuals completing the survey considered lack of discipline at school environment to be the primary reason for law-defending activities as opposed to lower figures for the state of poverty and joblessness, at around 65% and 60% respectively. Meanwhile, under 30% of the respondents indicated that the other factors, including poor housing, lack of education and facilities were the major causes of illegality.
Boredom, drug addiction as well as peer group pressure were quoted as personal reasons in the survey. 70% of those involved selected peer group pressure as the main causes whereas that of drug addiction was just slightly over 40%. In comparison, roughly 30% of the individuals indicated that boredom usually compelled people to take law-breaking actions.
