The proportion of the world population in China and India was much more than that of in the USA and Japan from 1950 to 2002. Before being projected to drop significantly to around 19% in 2050, China’s population occupied just over 25% in 1950 which ranked the first. On the contrary, the percentage of population in India showed an upward trend between 1950 and 2002, and then it will increase to about 21% in 2050, overtaking that of in China.
The percentage of the world population in the USA and Japan was less than the rest of countries. The population of USA took up 10% in 1950, which was two times the quantity of Japan. However, it is projected to decrease moderately to nearly 8% in 2050, the same number as in 2002. The population of Japan witnessed downward trend from 1950 to 2002, followed by being expected to about 3%.
Overall, the population of China and India will still much more than that of the USA and Japan in 2050.
