let it burn policy in forest
The passage claims that "let it burn" policy has a harmful effect on forests, ecology and the regional economy. However, the lecture casts doubt on the all reasons provided in the article, and presents some idea to refute all of the mentioned arguments in the passage.
First of all, the reading says that extreme fires in Yellowstone result in extensive annihilation in the park vegetation and many trees were eliminated. The professor, on the contrary, takes the view that fires could provide the opportunity for new types of plant to grow which required more sunlight. Further, she states that some seeds began to germinate after fire because they need a certain amount of heat to rise.
Second, the article asserts that fires affected the park wildlife, and alleged death of many species because of the fire. Moreover, the passage argues that the destruction of habitats and disruption in the food chain are the big concern because it could make it impossible for the survived animals return. In contrast, the speaker underlies the fact that after fire animals recover and new types of animals appeared in the park, and also some animals, for instance, rabbits became prey for other predators and the food chain works properly.
Finally, although the author brings up the idea that fires has tremendous damages on tourist attraction and decreases the local economy, the professor clarifies that the fires happened at Yellystone park is very rare and a lot of environmental parameters should happen together to cause such a disaster and since 1988 the same fires has not occurred. After forest recover itself, tourists come to the park next year.
