Do you think your country’s membership in ASEAN affects your daily life? How do you think ASEAN can help your country address a challenge (such as climate change, creating new jobs, or health issues) in the 21st century?
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has undoubtedly played a prominent role in negotiating and collaborating with the aim of mutual development and peace promotion amongst member countries. This is not just between the governments but also affects the citizen's daily lives. From my viewpoint, I do believe ASEAN will do wonder for Vietnam, especially in creating job opportunities.
Thanks to the ASEAN Economic Community, the taxes incurred between countries are minimizing, which allows us to purchase goods more economically and diminish the cost of living. In other words, we can now buy foods and goods with decreasing prices. Furthermore, ASEAN is providing opportunities for entrepreneurs to set up companies notwithstanding the borders, which means we may have access to better medical care and education, ect.. Air travel and tourism are improving that we will be able to fly to other regions with lower and lower costs. As a result, citizen's quality of life improves from the daily level.
Through recognition of educational and technical qualifications, labors in eight professions including doctors, dentists, nurses, accountants, surveyors, architects, engineers, and tourism professionals, can freely find jobs without barriers. This assists Vietnam in reducing the unemployment rate and improving labor quality. What is more, the association creates exchange programs and conferences in which people have an opportunity to improve their skills and professions. Hopefully, ASEAN will remain this policy and encourage countries to be more financially opened.
In conclusion, the membership of Vietnam in ASEAN has a great impact on my daily life and people's chances of getting jobs and Vietnam in general. I hope the ASEAN would keep up the fellowship among the member states so that people from those nations would continue to be benefited from the established policies.
