The provided chart represents percentages of uneducated males and females in different parts of the world in 2000.
Overall, more females were unschooled than males in South Asia, Arab States, Sub-Saharan Africa and East Asia/Oceania. South Asia was leading among other regions in the amount of the illiterate population, with around 35% men and around 55% women.
Arab States took second place with around 54% uneducated women and just below 30% uneducated men, followed by Sub-Saharan Africans, who account to about 48% and 30% of females and males respectively. In Latin America, both genders were educated equally, with about 10% of the total population. East Asia/Oceania demonstrated that the number of women exceeds the number of men twice more.
To conclude, it is clear that females were less educated than men in 2000. South Asia showed the highest rates in the educated population, whereas, developed countries had the most illiterate residents.
