A glance a the two figures provided reveals the percentage of people using different transportations and the motivations for them to use car in the city.
In general, it is evident that car was a major transport that citizens used in Edmonton compared with other public transportation and taxi. also, the main purpose of people chose to drive themselves is the way on the work.
With regard to the proportion on transport, the city had four kinds of transportation(namely car, lrt, bus, and taxi). 45 percent of interviewees adopted car to go outside, which was ten percent more of people who take bus. In contrast, the percentage of people using lrt and taxi were both accounted for ten percent that were considerably lower than taxi and car.
reasons for using car in the city varied a lot. 55 percent of interviewees drove their own car to commute to work, which was also the most popular reason among others. The portion of taking children to school and business were similar, with 40 and 45 percent respectively. Meanwhile, shopping and leisure activities accounted for the same proportion with 15 percent.
