TPO 20 integrated writing
The reading discusses that the "let it burn" policy caused a vast forest burnt and damage. The author listed three factors to illustrate the damage of Yellowstone fires. However, the lecture finds all the reasons dubious and presents sone evidence to refute all of them.
First, the author proposes that that fire caused extensive damage to the park's tree and other vegetation. On the contrary, the speaker casts doubt on this issue and asserts that vegetation became more diverse after the fire. Owing to the fact that some vegetation could not grow before it as some other vegetations were dominant in that area like Eer. Besides, others appear again after the high-level heat they were exposed to.
Furthermore, the author describes that it harms wildlife like elk and deer, due to the damages to their habitat and food chain. On the other hand, the speaker states that it provides a new opportunity for other animals such as rabbits to have a strong food chain and extend their population. As a result, the speaker rejects this idea.
Last but not least, the reading passage illustrated that it had a negative impact on the local economy as the number of tourists decreased. In contrast, the speaker dismisses this idea by standing that it does not happen every year, thus after the population and vegetation cover get backed to the prior, tourists come back each year after that like before. Therefore, all the reasons are rebutted by the speaker one after another.
