The bar chart illustrates the proportion of Australian male and female participants in a variety of age groups who took part in daily physical training in the year 2010.
It is clear that the percentage of women taking part in physical activity at different ages, except for the age group from 15 to 24, surpassed that of men. In addition, physical activity had the same proportion among both sexes at the ages between 65 and over.
As can be seen from the chart, while the three groups 35 to 44, 45 to 54 and 55 to 64 shared nearly the equal percentage of women with around 53%, the proportion of men was relatively lower with 39,5%, 43,1% and 45,1% respectively. Similarly, women at the age of 25 to 34 accounted for nearly 49%, compared to 42,2% of men at the same age group. Additionally, men and women aged 65 and over shared the same percentage of around 47%.
Looking at the chart in more detail, men at the age of 15 to 24 worked out more than women, with nearly 53%, in comparison with around 48% of women. However, the figure for male participant aged 35 to 44 was the lowest, compared to other age groups, with around 40%.
