The graph below shows the quantities of goods transported in the UK between 1974 and 2002 by four different modes of transport.
The line graph gives information about the amount of goods carried by various types of passage over a 28 years from 1974 to 2002 in the United Kingdom. Unity is measured in million tonnes.
Overall, it can be seen that the highest amount of goods were transported by the road while pipeline had experienced an opposite to the road. Water showed an increase in the figure of the transportation of goods. There was a fluctuation in the sum of a train.
The volume of road started at almost 70 million tonnes in 1974. This figure went up gradually over 80 billion tonnes till 1992 but it showed a sight decrease 79 billion tonnes in 1996 but at end of the period it was rocketed which was almost 99 million tonnes. Water was the second highest method of transportation which begins with approximately 39 million tonnes which rises in 1980 till almost 56 million tonnes at the end of period it was above 61 million tones.
Throughout the entire period goods transported to UK via rail remained between 40 and 60 billion tonnes thought it have experienced ups and downs. In 1974, nearly 3 billion tonnes of good were transported but slowly it went up above 20 million tonnes in 2002.
