Fuel and Oil consumption fluctuated between 1980 and 1995 and increased year on year afterwards. It is projected to be approximately 14 quadrillion units by 2030. Coal stood at just over 15 quadrillion units in 1980 and began to rise gradually during the period to its projection at about 30 quadrillions in 2030. Natural Gas experienced a similar trend since 1980, with some fluctuations; however, it remained relatively unchanged after 2015.
Nuclear power and other alternative sources of energy accounted for only small units of the total, just under 5 quadrillions each. While the consumption of hydropower stayed at the same rate, that of solar power and nuclear energy grew slightly to about 5 and 7 quadrillion respectively.
